Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a manufacturer based in Gwent. With a number of plants across the UK, the organisation serve a wide cross section of customers, Monday – Friday days based role.

 

The Role
Reporting into the Production Manager, you will ensure that any repairs and servicing of all electrical and mechanical equipment, plant and machinery within the division are dealt with efficiently and effectively. You will also ensure any breakdown repairs, PPM schedules or refurbishments are carried out with minimum interruption to the production process.

You will liaise with the Production Manager to ensure spares are ordered before the last parts are used, and ensure prompt and efficient repair of broken machinery. Key plant equipment includes Extraction / filter plant system – PLC, inverter, motors, pneumatic, Water treatment system – PLC, pneumatics, motors and standard manual control overhead crane systems – motors, inverter, etc.

 

Duties

  • To ensure the continuous operation and maintenance of all electrical and mechanical plant and equipment.
  • To ensure necessary repairs and maintenance regimes are carried out to schedule and recorded accordingly.
  • To minimise breakdowns through good preventative maintenance.
  • To liaise with Contractors to ensure breakdowns are dealt with swiftly with the minimum disruption to production but in a safety aware manner.
  • To maintain agreed maintenance records.
  • To record and file breakdowns and downtime.
  • To control and monitor the ordering of essential spares to minimise the risk of extended delays in the event of breakdown.
  • To operate an agreed “call out” system.
  • To issue permits to work as required.
  • To maintain a well-structured and tidy workplace.
  • To observe all safety guidelines and SSOW.
  • To ensure all machinery and equipment is checked and kept in good working order.
  • To maintain and regulate the LOLER records.

 

The Person
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of mechanical / electrical engineering. Duties will include the installation and maintenance of plant and equipment, preventative maintenance and routine refurbishment work. Therefore, candidate must have sound knowledge and experience in Three-phase electrical installation, including motors and inverters drives; possess excellent troubleshooting and fault diagnostic on PLC control systems, etc. Working at heights is a key requirement hence successful candidate should be comfortable operating a MEWP / Scissor lift or be happy to be trained to do so.
